Camping Armanello is one of the campsites that accept animals in the Valencian Community, where you can find special facilities for them as their canine shower and even bungalows for dogs. But do you really know how to bathe your pet? Many veterinary experts agree that it is not advisable to bathe animals, since odor is their means of identity and communication. However, in the case of domestic pets, this process is essential to maintain hygiene in the home and prevent people from contracting certain infections. In addition, when dogs are at home it is more pleasant that they are clean and smell good, and especially when you have been on vacation for several weeks in your camper, you always appreciate returning home with your pet clean, even in summer time you will appreciate it both parts …. However, it is advisable to follow a series of tips so that this is not detrimental to your health.

Baths should be administered to dogs regularly, but not too continuously, as this may reduce the defenses that the animal possesses, as well as the saprophytic microorganism and grease that provides the hair with lubrication, silkiness and prevents drying of the skin and, therefore, dandruff.. It is also harmful to bathe the dog too frequently because the moisture remains in the animal for two or three days, even if it has been carefully dried, increasing the chances of the dog suffering from breathing difficulties in the future.

The type of coat of the animal is also a factor in determining the frequency, since bathing always causes a shedding of hair, which is of greater importance in double-coated dogs. It can be observed that there are pet odors that are not eliminated by bathing, but bathing them more often is not a solution to eradicate them, since it is only possible to make them disappear through medical treatment. If the dog gets very dirty due to its activity or the places it frequents, it is recommended to use some type of dry or powdered shampoo and to brush it regularly.

Steps to follow during bathing for dogs

Steps to follow for your dog's shower

Bathing a dog is not as simple as it seems, since it is necessary to follow some guidelines to avoid harming the animal, for example, by introducing water into its ears. The first step to follow is to take care of the water temperature and make sure it is lukewarm. Afterwards, the coat should be rubbed well with a special shampoo purchased at a veterinary center. It is also possible to use coconut soap.

Shampoo should be applied from the back to the legs, leaving the head for the last part of the coat. When washing the head, extreme care should be taken to avoid getting soap in the ears or eyes.

The next step is to rinse, for which it is necessary to grab the dog by the muzzle and pour the water from front to back with an appropriate container. This is one of the most important phases of the bath and should be done conscientiously, because many dogs suffer skin disorders due to the remains of shampoo or soap left by their owners when bathing them.

Steps after bathing

The dog’s hygiene process does not end with the bath, but must be followed by drying. It is advisable to accustom the animal to the hair dryer from an early age: it is the most effective and quickest way because it prevents the humidity from persisting for too long. However, care must be taken that the warm air does not penetrate into your ears.

Before using the hair dryer, the hair is first dried with a towel, with which it is stroked, without rubbing, and always in a downward direction to avoid curls. Nowadays, there are even special dryers for dogs that control the noise, which scares these animals the most.

To complete the whole process, the dog should be combed and brushed. Depending on the type of the animal’s coat, this brushing should be more or less long-lasting and exhaustive.
