The 10 Best Campsites in Spain in 2026

There is no such thing as a campsite that suits every traveller. The one a family with small children loves may feel too lively for a couple looking for peace and quiet, and the best place for a motorhome is not necessarily the best for sleeping in a glamping tent. That is why this guide combines a general ranking of 10 campsites with selections by type of holiday and a specific analysis of the Valencian Community.

Editorial transparency: this guide is published by Camping Armanello, a campsite in Benidorm. Armanello is not in the national top 10 and is assessed, using the same criteria as the rest, in the section devoted to the Valencian Community. Each rating states its source, its scale, the number of reviews it is based on and the date it was checked (23 October 2026).

Summary of the method: we cross-check customer ratings from ACSI/Eurocampings, Tripadvisor and Booking.com with the ACSI Awards 2026 and with the details of each listing, and we discard any figure we have not been able to verify. You will find the details in the methodology section and the full list of sources at the end.

How did we choose the best campsites in Spain?

We started from a universe of campsites with a verifiable listing and reviews on at least two user platforms (ACSI/Eurocampings, Tripadvisor and Booking.com) or with an ACSI Awards 2026 prize. We then applied these criteria, in order of importance:

1. Customer satisfaction: the average rating on ACSI/Eurocampings (out of 10), Tripadvisor (out of 5) and Booking.com (out of 10). We look for agreement between platforms, not a brilliant result on just one.
2. Number of reviews: we consider a sample of 30 or more reviews solid. Below that we flag it as a “small sample” and do not use it as a main argument.
3. Current external recognition: the ACSI Awards 2026, voted for by campers between September 2025 and January 2026. We do not present any earlier award as current.
4. Facilities, setting and accommodation: size, pitch type, swimming pools, distance to the sea, opening dates and services, according to the ACSI listing and each campsite's official website.
5. Variety: we look for different experiences (beach resort, nature, small campsite, motorhome) rather than ten versions of the same product.

What we do not do: we do not calculate our own numerical index or present it as an official rating. The scales are not comparable with one another and measure different things (a technical inspection is not the same as a customer's opinion), so we show each rating separately. The order of the ranking is a reasoned editorial judgement, and the differences between adjacent positions are not statistically significant. We rank according to agreement between sources, the number of reviews and the 2026 awards: with equal ratings, a large sample and a current award carry more weight.

What we have left out: Google Maps ratings (we have not been able to cross-check them in a reproducible way), the inspector ratings from ADAC/PiNCAMP and ANWB (we have not been able to verify them in this review) and average prices (there is no comparable source). The previous version of this article published those figures without an up-to-date source, so we have removed them rather than repeat them.

About the ACSI Awards: the winning campsites are chosen by campers themselves by vote and must reach a minimum number of votes. In the 2026 edition ACSI received almost 100,000 votes from across Europe and presented ten awards in Spain. This is the selection, with ratings verified on 23 October 2026. ACSI and Booking.com score out of 10; Tripadvisor out of 5. The number of reviews is in brackets. “n/v” stands for “not verified”, and in that case we do not publish the figure.

Notes on the listings: the Booking.com listing for Caravaning Oyambre appears as “Bungalows Playa de Oyambre”, the one for Isábena as “Bungalowpark Isábena” and the one for Los Escullos as “Complejo Turístico Los Escullos”; we have matched them by town and description. The pitch, surface area and opening data come from the ACSI listing and may differ from what each campsite publishes. Six of the ten also appear in the “Top 10 campsites in Spain” list that ACSI publishes based on its customers' reviews (Oyambre, L'Amuravela, Mas Nou, Isábena, Stel and Sangulí). The large Catalan resorts dominate the list because they account for most of the ACSI 2026 awards; we have not applied quotas by region.

1. Camping & Resort Sangulí Salou (Salou, Tarragona)

It has the broadest and most consistent base of reviews in the selection: more than 1,800 reviews on Tripadvisor and 187 on ACSI point in the same direction. It is a large holiday park on the Costa Dorada and in 2026 it won the ACSI Award for the most beautiful campsite swimming pool.

• Highlights: high, consistent rating across three platforms; 885 pitches and 520 rental accommodation units on 29 hectares; ACSI highlights its suitability for children (8.9) and its swimming pool (8.8).
• Worth bearing in mind: value for money is its lowest sub-score on ACSI (8.3) and it is a seasonal campsite (27 March to 1 November according to ACSI).
• Best for: families looking for a resort with plenty of leisure options and varied accommodation, a short distance from PortAventura according to its website.
• Evidence: ACSI Award 2026 for the most beautiful campsite swimming pool. ACSI 8.7 (187), Tripadvisor 4.1 (1,893), Booking 9.0 (193).

2. Camping La Ballena Alegre Costa Brava (Sant Pere Pescador, Girona)

It was voted best campsite in Spain at the ACSI Awards 2026. It is a very large seafront complex, designed for those who want a beach, water sports and rental accommodation all in one place.

• Highlights: 809 pitches of 95 to 120 m² and 317 accommodation units on 24 hectares according to ACSI; a separate camping area for those travelling with a dog; ACSI rates the swimming pool (8.7) and the staff (8.7).
• Worth bearing in mind: the ACSI rating (8.5) rests on only 32 reviews and on Tripadvisor (4.0; 290 reviews) it falls below the other large resorts in the selection. It is open from 8 May to 12 October according to ACSI.
• Best for: families and fans of the beach and water sports who are happy with a very large campsite.
• Evidence: ACSI Award 2026 for best campsite in Spain. ACSI 8.5 (32), Tripadvisor 4.0 (290).

3. Caravaning Oyambre (San Vicente de la Barquera, Cantabria)

It has the best combined rating across the three platforms of the whole selection: 8.8 on ACSI, 4.4 on Tripadvisor and 9.0 on Booking.com, at a small campsite within the Oyambre Natural Park. It ranks third because it is a small, seasonal campsite with no ACSI 2026 award (only an honourable mention). It received an honourable mention at the ACSI Awards 2026.

• Highlights: 128 pitches and 58 accommodation units on 4 hectares; about 500 metres from the beach according to ACSI; restaurant and shop.
• Worth bearing in mind: dogs are not allowed according to ACSI, there is only one swimming pool and it is open from 20 March to 19 October. The Cantabrian climate is cooler and more changeable than the Mediterranean.
• Best for: couples and families who prefer nature and the Cantabrian coast to a large resort.

4. Camping Stel (Roda de Berà, Tarragona)

In 2026 it won the ACSI Award for the most fun campsite for children, and it combines that family focus with a high, stable rating on the three platforms we have been able to check.

• Highlights: 510 pitches and 108 accommodation units on 12 hectares, next to the sea and a sandy beach; ACSI sub-scores for swimming pool (9.1), staff (9.0), children (8.9) and entertainment (8.8).
• Worth bearing in mind: it is open from 26 March to 27 September according to ACSI, and some Tripadvisor reviews mention narrow lanes and high prices.
• Best for: families with children who want entertainment and a beach on the Costa Dorada.
• Evidence: ACSI Award 2026 for the most fun campsite for children. ACSI 8.8 (84), Tripadvisor 4.2 (242).

5. Camping Mas Nou (Castelló d'Empúries, Girona)

It is among the ten best in Spain on ACSI's customer list (8.8 with 142 reviews) and holds up well on Tripadvisor (4.3). It is in the Alt Empordà, near Figueres, with entertainment and sports facilities.

• Highlights: 450 pitches and 42 accommodation units on 7.8 hectares, with views of the mountains and the sea; suitable for people with disabilities according to ACSI.
• Worth bearing in mind: it is about 4 km from the sea, so it is not a seafront campsite; dogs are not allowed and there is one swimming pool. It is open from 28 March to 25 October.
• Best for: families looking for a base from which to explore the Empordà and the Costa Brava with a good atmosphere.
• Evidence: ACSI 2026 honourable mention. ACSI 8.8 (142), Tripadvisor 4.3 (145).

6. Playa Montroig Camping Resort (Mont-roig del Camp, Tarragona)

A 35-hectare seafront resort on the Costa Dorada. In 2026 it won the ACSI Award for the best sanitary facilities and it is one of the largest in the selection.

• Highlights: 948 pitches and 342 accommodation units; a large complex of swimming pools and a beach; ACSI rates its sanitary facilities (8.7) and its swimming pool (8.8).
• Worth bearing in mind: its value for money is the lowest sub-score on ACSI (7.8), its Tripadvisor rating (3.9; 1,311 reviews) is the lowest of the large Catalan resorts on the list, and its ACSI rating (8.8) is based on only 33 reviews.
• Best for: families who put the beach, swimming pools and cleanliness ahead of price.
• Evidence: ACSI Award 2026 for the best sanitary facilities. ACSI 8.8 (33), Tripadvisor 3.9 (1,311).

7. Samay La Marina Resort (La Marina, Elche, Alicante)

It is the highest-rated campsite among customers in the Valencian Community on the ACSI list, and it combines high ratings on ACSI, Tripadvisor and Booking.com with an enormous number of reviews (more than 4,000 on Tripadvisor).

• Highlights: 398 pitches of 60 to 125 m² and 192 accommodation units on 12 hectares; open all year round; two water parks with several slides; dogs allowed.
• Worth bearing in mind: it is not right on the beach (the ACSI listing places it “not far from the sea” and some reviews mention about a 10-minute walk).
• Best for: families looking for a water park and year-round opening on the Costa Blanca.
• Evidence: ACSI 2026 honourable mention. ACSI 8.6 (128), Tripadvisor 4.1 (4,224), Booking 9.0 (284).

8. Camping Isábena (La Puebla de Roda, Huesca)

It is the mountain option on the list: a 3-hectare campsite beside a river in the Isábena valley, in the Aragonese Pyrenees, with one of the largest samples of reviews on ACSI (312).

• Highlights: 135 pitches and 42 accommodation units, swimming pool and children's playground; ACSI rating of 8.5 on a very solid base; Booking 8.2 with 457 reviews.
• Worth bearing in mind: dogs are not allowed according to ACSI, it is open from 1 April to 31 October and it is far from the coast.
• Best for: families and couples who want nature, hiking and tranquillity in the Pyrenees.
• Evidence: ACSI 8.5 (312), Tripadvisor 4.3 (86), Booking 8.2 (457).

9. Camping Los Escullos (Níjar, Almería)

In 2026 it won the ACSI Award for the best motorhome pitches. It is in the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, open all year round and about 1 km from the sea.

• Highlights: 216 pitches of 40 to 80 m² and 69 accommodation units on 4.5 hectares; swimming pool, gym and restaurant; motorhome services; dogs allowed.
• Worth bearing in mind: Tripadvisor (3.7; 430 reviews) is below the rest of the list and the pitches are smaller than at the large resorts.
• Best for: motorhome travellers and winter visitors who want coastal hiking and sun in the south-east.

10. Camping L'Amuravela (Cudillero, Asturias)

A small terraced campsite within the grounds of a former “indiano” mansion above Cudillero, on the Costa Verde. It closes the list thanks to the combination of a good ACSI rating (8.4) from 261 reviews and a setting very different from that of the Mediterranean resorts.

• Highlights: 116 pitches and 19 accommodation units on 2.8 hectares; swimming pool, children's playground, sports area and snack bar; dogs allowed.
• Worth bearing in mind: the Tripadvisor (50) and Booking.com (38) samples are small and it is open from 27 March to 11 October.
• Best for: families who prefer a quiet campsite of manageable size in the north.

The best campsite depends on what you are looking for. In each selection we add data that does not appear in the top 10 and we repeat a name only when there is a specific reason. The pitch, surface area and opening data come from the ACSI listing (checked on 23 October 2026).

For families with children

• Camping Stel: ACSI Award 2026 for the most fun campsite for children; suitability for children 8.9 on ACSI (84 reviews).
• Sangulí Camping & Resort: suitability for children 8.9 and entertainment 8.7 on ACSI; 520 rental accommodation units, with plenty of variety for different groups.
• Samay La Marina Resort: two water parks with several slides and year-round opening, according to ACSI.
• Alannia Costa Blanca: water park with slides, kids' club and teen club according to ACSI; ACSI 8.2 (123), Tripadvisor 4.4 (2,287), Booking 8.4 (647).

Beside the beach

• Playa Montroig Camping Resort: on the seafront on the Costa Dorada, according to the ACSI listing.
• La Ballena Alegre Costa Brava: on the seafront, with access to a wide sandy beach.
• Camping Stel: next to the sea and a sandy beach.
• Camping Illa Mateua (L'Escala, Girona): ACSI Award 2026 for best location, by the sea and in woodland; ACSI 8.2 with only 17 reviews, so we treat it as a recommendation for its location and not as a measure of satisfaction.

Be careful with the “beach campsite” label: according to ACSI, Mas Nou is about 4 km from the sea, Bravoplaya 3 km, Los Escullos about 1 km and Caravaning Oyambre 500 metres. On a map, a campsite can look close to the coast and not be so in practice.

Mountains and nature

• Camping Isábena (Huesca): river and Aragonese Pyrenees; ACSI 8.5 with 312 reviews.
• Camping Trevélez (Granada): terraces in a forest in the Sierra Nevada, 1 km from the village; ACSI 8.3 (170), Tripadvisor 3.9 (51), Booking 7.8 (219). The ground is sloping, something to consider if you have a caravan.
• Camping Los Escullos (Almería): Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park; coastal hiking and year-round opening.
• Caravaning Oyambre (Cantabria): within the Oyambre Natural Park; already described in the ranking.

Small and peaceful

Small does not mean basic. These three combine a small size with good ratings, although the samples are more limited than at the large resorts and it is worth reading the recent reviews:

• Camping Can Coromines (Maià de Montcal, Girona): 50 pitches, 5 accommodation units and 1.6 hectares; ACSI Award 2026 for the best small campsite with great charm. ACSI 8.7 (23), Tripadvisor 4.5 (51), Booking 8.4 (21): small samples.
• Camping L'Amuravela (Asturias): 116 pitches and 19 accommodation units; ACSI 8.4 with 261 reviews.
• Caravaning Oyambre (Cantabria): 128 pitches and 58 accommodation units; the best combined rating on the list.

For glamping

There is a big difference between a campsite with a genuine glamping offer (safari tents, equipped tents, cabins) and an establishment that only rents conventional bungalows. Booking.com's glamping lists also mix rural-hotel-type accommodation with campsites, so we have limited ourselves to two campsites with glamping as their main product and thousands of reviews. In both cases we have only been able to cross-check Booking.com, so they should be read as a reference and not as a definitive conclusion.

• wecamp Cabo de Gata (Las Negras, Almería): glamping and camping beside the beach in the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park; Booking 8.6 (1,954 reviews).
• HolaCamp Chilches (Xilxes, Castellón): bungalows, glamping and pitches on the Costa del Azahar; Booking 8.5 (1,864 reviews).

For travelling by motorhome

The most useful piece of information for a motorhome is the real size of the pitch, which ACSI publishes. Only Los Escullos has a specific award (ACSI Award 2026 for the best motorhome pitches); at the others we have not been able to verify the waste-disposal and electricity services, and it is worth asking.

Featured campsites in Alicante and the Costa Blanca

Samay La Marina Resort (ACSI 8.6; Tripadvisor 4.1 with more than 4,000 reviews; Booking 9.0) is the benchmark for the province and already appears in the national ranking. Alongside it, Alannia Costa Blanca, in Crevillente, is one of the largest camping resorts in the country according to ACSI, with 1,074 pitches and 35 hectares: Tripadvisor rates it 4.4 (2,287 reviews), Booking.com 8.4 (647) and ACSI 8.2 (123). It is not a beach campsite (the ACSI listing gives no distance to the sea and other guides place it about 15 km from the coast) and it offers a water park, a spa and kids' and teen clubs. Camping Lo Monte, in Pilar de la Horadada, appears on the ACSI list with an 8.3, although with only 30 reviews and no other source to confirm it.

Featured campsites in Valencia

It is the province with the fewest campsites that can be cross-checked on a sufficient basis. Kikopark Playa, in Oliva, is the main one: it is next to a beach and open all year round, with 176 pitches and 75 accommodation units on 2.9 hectares, and in 2026 it won the ACSI Award for the best campsite restaurant. Its ACSI rating (7.8; 37 reviews) and its Tripadvisor rating (3.4; 278 reviews) are clearly lower than those of the leaders in Alicante and Castellón, so we recommend it for its location and its restaurant, not as one of the best campsites in the region.

Featured campsites in Castellón

Castellón accounts for most of the ACSI list. Bravoplaya Camping-Resort (Ribera de Cabanes) has an 8.6 on ACSI from 68 reviews, 507 pitches, 125 accommodation units, three swimming pools and year-round opening, but a 3.7 on Tripadvisor (284 reviews): the platforms disagree, and so do the sources on the distance to the beach (3 km according to ACSI; the campsite's website places it next to the beach), so it is worth checking before booking. What supports its case: on Tripadvisor it has a 4.5 (396 reviews), ranked 1st of 188 properties in the “Specialty lodging” category in Benidorm, and it displays the Travellers' Choice 2026 badge (Tripadvisor awards it to the top-rated properties, within the top 10% of the platform). On ACSI its best sub-scores are staff (8.7) and value for money (8.7). The services it declares on its website (glamping, coworking room, gym, free dishwasher, pitches with private bathroom, free wifi) we have not been able to cross-check with an independent source.

What holds it back: ACSI records only 15 reviews, an insufficient basis for comparing it with the leaders; its entertainment (7.5) and sports facilities (7.8) sub-scores are the lowest; ACSI indicates about a 30-minute walk to the beach; and its size (100 pitches and 51 accommodation units) is not comparable to that of a resort with a water park. It is not among the winners of the ACSI Awards 2026.

Editorial decision: Camping Armanello is not in the general ranking for the Valencian Community, because the independent evidence of satisfaction is too limited compared with that of the leaders. It does deserve a mention in specific categories: as a small, family-run campsite open 365 days a year in a city with a lot of choice, with very high satisfaction on Tripadvisor and Booking.com. We do not claim that it is the best campsite in Benidorm, in Alicante or in the region: there is no comparative evidence to support that.

How to choose the best campsite for your holiday

• Type of trip: families with small children, couples, groups of friends or a motorhome trip all call for different things. A resort with plenty of entertainment is an advantage in the first case and a drawback in the second.
• Season: many campsites close in October (La Ballena Alegre on 12 October, Stel on 27 September). If you are travelling in winter, filter by year-round opening and look at the climate of the area.
• Budget: compare the final price for the same dates, pitch or accommodation, number of people and extras. The ACSI CampingCard offers reduced rates at partner campsites outside high season.
• Location: check the real distance to the sea using the ACSI listing and a map, not the “beach campsite” label. In the selection it ranges from 500 m to 4 km.
• Pitch or accommodation: in the selection, pitches range from 40 m² to 180 m². If you have a motorhome or an awning, size matters more than category.
• Facilities: heated swimming pools, a water park, private bathrooms or a kids' club are not offered by all of them; check what you need.
• Pets: not all of them accept dogs (for example, Oyambre, Mas Nou and Isábena, according to ACSI). Ask about breeds, fees and designated areas.
• Climate: the Cantabrian coast, the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean are different experiences, with more rain and less heat in the north.
• Size and atmosphere: a campsite with 1,000 pitches offers more services and more noise in high season; one with 50 offers personal attention and less choice.

Awards and certifications: what they mean

Not all recognitions measure the same thing. These are the most common ones and what they indicate; in the ranking we have only used the ACSI Awards 2026.

• ACSI Awards: a vote by campers (in 2026, almost 100,000 votes across Europe). It measures satisfaction, not a technical inspection.
• ACSI annual inspection: according to its listing, an ACSI inspector visits the inspected campsites every year and checks more than 200 services and aspects.
• PiNCAMP/ADAC and ANWB: guides from the German (ADAC) and Dutch (ANWB) motoring clubs, with inspections and user ratings. We have not been able to verify their current ratings, which is why we do not publish them.
• Q for Tourism Quality and S for Sustainability: Spanish quality and sustainable-management certifications awarded by the ICTE (Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality) after an audit.
• ISO 9001 and ISO 14001: international standards for quality management and environmental management.
• EMAS and Biosphere: the European environmental management and audit scheme and a responsible tourism certification.
• Travellers' Choice (Tripadvisor): an annual distinction based on travellers' reviews; according to Tripadvisor, it is awarded to properties within the top 10% of the platform.

What is the best campsite in Spain?

It depends on what you are looking for. At the ACSI Awards 2026, voted for by campers, the award for best campsite in Spain went to La Ballena Alegre Costa Brava. If we look at agreement between several platforms, Sangulí, Caravaning Oyambre and Camping Stel are the most consistent. Neither reading is a single official rating.

Which campsites are best for going with children?

Camping Stel won the ACSI Award 2026 for the most fun campsite for children. Sangulí, Samay La Marina and Alannia Costa Blanca stand out for their water parks and their kids' clubs or children's entertainment.

What is the difference between a traditional campsite and a camping resort?

A camping resort is a large complex with a water park, restaurants, entertainment and many rental accommodation units, designed for a complete holiday without leaving the site. A traditional campsite is smaller, centred on the pitch and on contact with the surroundings. We explain it in more detail in what a camping resort is.

What is the largest campsite in Spain?

We have not found an official ranking that settles it. Among those we have cross-checked, Alannia Costa Blanca (1,074 pitches and 35 hectares) and Playa Montroig (948 pitches and 35 hectares) have the largest surface area, according to the ACSI listings.

Are there quality campsites open all year round?

Yes. Samay La Marina, Alannia Costa Blanca, Bravoplaya and Los Escullos are listed on ACSI as open all year round.

Which campsites are recommended for motorhomes?

Camping Los Escullos won the ACSI Award 2026 for the best motorhome pitches. If you need very large pitches, Alannia Costa Blanca offers the largest on our list (90 to 180 m²).

Where are the best campsites in the Valencian Community?

According to ACSI's customer list, the top one is Samay La Marina Resort (Alicante), followed by Bravoplaya (Castellón). Alicante and Castellón account for the best results; in the province of Valencia there are fewer campsites with a solid base of reviews.

How much does a campsite of this standard cost?

We do not publish average prices because there is no comparable source and they vary greatly with the season, the type of pitch or accommodation and the extras. Always ask for a quote for your dates and compare what it includes.
