The province of Alicante is a preferred sun and beach tourist destination on the Levantine coast. Benidorm, Denia, Torrevieja, Calpe, Santa Pola or Javea are visited every summer by hundreds of thousands of people looking for relaxation and enjoyment of its beaches.
But in addition to the beaches, people enjoy swimming pools a lot, and that’s what water parks are for. The best known of all is Aqualandia, in Benidorm, which is the longest running water park in Alicante. Besides this one, there are other options, do you want to know them?
Oh, and lest we forget, the province has been able to diversify its tourist offer. It is not only a succession of kilometers of coastline with beaches with all the services, but it also has another great impulse in inland tourism. But today we focus on water parks.
Aqualandia was the first facility of its kind built in Spain and currently remains one of the largest in the world and the largest on this list of water parks in Alicante. It opened its doors in 1985. In Europe, it retained that privilege until the opening of Siam Park in Costa Adeje, Tenerife.
Aqualandia in Alicante is the water park that offers the highest slides in the continent. It is located on the outskirts of Benidorm, just 20 minutes from our Camping Armanello facilities and in the vicinity of the Serra Gelada natural park.
The complex extends over 150,000 square meters and includes numerous water attractions, green areas and complementary services. The most notable bathing areas are swimming pools, slides and children’s play areas in which millions of liters of water are moved.
One of the most visited areas is VertiGo!, a capsule slide with a 33-meter drop that takes only 3 seconds to complete.
The soft tracks are another popular attraction for swimmers, as they offer the opportunity to race and feel the speed while going down the track. In the Splash slides you will feel all the excitement of sliding into the water from dozens of meters.
Beyond the attractions that allow you to unload a lot of adrenaline, other spaces that ensure a lot of enjoyment are Geyser, Amazonas, Cyclon, the rapids or the Adventureland park, the latter intended mainly for children and families. In addition, there are also playgrounds with water launchers, ball pools, a children’s maze and a wave pool.
Aqualandia Benidorm, in its interest to attract visitors, offers from its website three routes to enjoy the park to the fullest.
- The Family Itinerary is designed to ensure enjoyment and entertainment for adults and children.
- The Amigos route includes relaxing and radical attractions, which guarantees good vibes.
- Finally, for the most daring, there is the Extreme route, with a review of the most dangerously fun scenarios.
In addition to the attractions, the park offers souvenir stores, picnic areas, a variety of restaurants, hammock and locker rentals, floats, ATMs and everything else you might need for a day of aquatic tourism.
The second oldest water park in Alicante and Spain is Aquapark Rojales, in the urbanization Ciudad Quesada. This recreational bathing complex was inaugurated in the summer of 1986. It is smaller than Aqualandia, only 21,000 square meters, but offers enough services and attractions to guarantee relaxation and fun.
Its facilities include rest areas, restaurant, lockers, cafeteria, exclusive parking for customers, changing rooms and toilets and a store with bathing products.
The total number of attractions is smaller, only seven, but enough to make up a water park that receives thousands of visitors every year. These include Zig-Zag, Amazonia, Kamikaze, Children’s Lake and Magic Carpet.
The smallest of the water parks in Alicante is Aquapark Flamingo, in Torrevieja. Its facilities are open from the end of May until September, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. It is ideal to visit with children. Its attractions include swimming pools, a variety of slides and a solarium area with a quieter pool.
The services are similar to the rest of the resorts of the same style in the province, with freeparking, refreshment and ice cream stands, free hammock areas, changing rooms, showers, lockers.
One of the most outstanding aspects of Aquapark Flamingo are its prices, which are very affordable for all audiences. In addition, children under four years of age are admitted free of charge.
Aqua Natura Benidorm
In the Terra Natura amusement park, also in Benidorm, Aqua Natura is located. It is the most familiar of the water parks in Alicante. This complex is only 15 minutes away from Camping Armanello. Its facilities are open from May to October. The complex is built as a complement to Terra Natura and has a very familiar character.
There are dozens of attractions and they are well differentiated between those for children and those for adults. There is no lack of slides, multitrack, zigzags, wave pools and waterfalls from great heights, there are even VIP attractions. At the same time, there is no lack of services typical of these facilities, such as restaurants and picnic areas.
The last of the water leisure parks in Alicante is Aquopolis Torrevieja. It is one of the largest in the province, offering more than 15 attractions suitable for all ages. Among them are Speed, Kamikaze, Zigzag or the soft slopes, without forgetting the wave pools.
Children will enjoy its facilities with a complete children’s area and a mini-park to have fun with water. It also includes a massage area within a large garden area.
Aquopolis also has several bars and restaurants and services typical of these complexes: store, sun lounger rental, Balinese beds, lockers and safety deposit boxes and the Speedy Pass, a system to reduce waiting time in queues.
Aqualandia is the main water park in Alicante, but it is not the only one. The province is flooded with spaces of this type where water and fun are the main protagonists. Visiting one of these facilities is a guarantee of enjoyment and family entertainment.
